About Taiguo

A small leather house making structured bags for people who keep them.

Taiguo began with one bag. A square tote cut from a single hide, because we could not find one that held its shape past the first month. We still make that bag; everything since has followed the same rule — if the leather cannot carry the structure, we do not cut it.

We work with a small workshop and release pieces in monthly runs rather than seasons. When a hide runs out, the colour goes with it. That is inconvenient for a shop and the right way to build a bag.

Bags come back to us for repair before they are replaced. Send one in and we will quote the work first — restitching an edge is almost always cheaper than a new bag.

What we will not compromise on

Three standards, applied to every piece in the collection.

Full-grain leather only

No bonded, corrected or coated splits. The grain you see is the grain of the hide.

Edges finished by hand

Painted, sanded and burnished in four passes so the edge does not crack or peel.

Numbered, not mass-produced

Small runs, tracked by hand. Nothing is restocked quietly behind your back.
